"Why are we embarrassed by silence? What comfort do we find in all the noise."
I found this quote to be interesting because it's a good question to ask yourself. Ask yourself this: has a teacher just stood their until you were silent and didn't you kind of feel ashamed or embarrassed? This should mean something to you. Why were you so embarrassed? Was it because when you were making all the noises you felt okay but once it got silent you didn't have that same feeling which made everything feel dead and awkward? Personally I'm scared of silence because silence is known in every language and silence can sometimes be a bad thing silence comes after a gunshot, a death, a funeral, it can be super scary and for some reason noise is better than silence. Why is noise also a good thing? Would you rather be in a room full of silent people all awkwardly looking at each other or a room full of noise that has laughter and eye contact?
So this means...
Silence = sadness
Silence = heartbreak
Silence = madness
Silence = tragedy
Silence= death
